Grade 5 have studied the unit 'Advertising'. In Korean B classes they would like to advertise about Korea. One class want to promote 'Busan' and the other class want to promote Korean food and famous places in Korea. This is a part of Korean program which is to get to know and experience Korean culture. Fans are a little bit big for Grade 2 students’ hands and they are not easy to handle. But G2 students worked very hard and they performed Boochechum, the Korean Traditional Fan Dance in Korean Assembly. On Tuesday 28th of January, ELC and the whole Elementary school enjoyed a celebration of the Korean Lunar New Year. Activities included: Kite making and flying, New Year Card making, origami, Traditional Korean games and Traditional lunar New Year food preparation and tasting. Before the Lunar New Year Celebration the students studied about New Year, Sullal which includes special greetings, how to wear Hanbok and how to bow, New Year song, food (Dduckgook, ricecake soup), traditional games and customs. On Tuesday the weather was beautiful to celebrate Lunar New Year and it was a good opportunity to experience Korean culture. Last week from Reception to Grade 5 Korean B students celebrated Chuseok (Korean Thanks Giving Day). We all studied the special customs of Chuseok and enjoyed lots of Chuseok activities. Reception had an assembly about Chuseok and Elementary students made 송편 (Songpheun), rice cake in cooking class. The students had a chance to try rice biscuits and Korean traditional cookies.
