Grade 2: Foundation Level
Term 3-a Shopping
This term Grade 2 foundation level will study the unit ‘Shopping’. The students will learn Sino/Pure Korean numbers, Korean money unit, Counting units and vocabulary relating to stationery items and colour. Key expressions are
어서오세요, 뭐 줄까요?, 여기 있어요, 지우개 있어요?, 지우개 두 개 주세요, 얼마예요?
Grade 2 will set up stationery shops to practice how to buy and sell the items.
Term 3-b Celebration
Grade 2 will learn about celebrations which occur in May such as Korean Children’s Day, Parents’ Day, Teacher’s Day and Buddha’s Birthday.

Houses and Homes
Grade 2 visited a Hanok, which is a Korean traditional house, in Gimhae. The students explored different styles of traditional houses and had a chance to eat Bulgogi for lunch in a traditional Korean restaurant. They also enjoyed making rice cake in the court yard of Hanok.

Grade 2 will begin the year by learning how to read and write the Korean alphabet. The students will learn how to introduce themselves including their names, nationalities, ages, where they live, their families and basic greetings linked with the unit ‘Ourselves’.
After this Grade 2 will study about ‘Hobbies’. The students will learn vocabulary and simple expressions related to their favourite activities and how to express preference.
Grade 2 will also celebrate Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) and Hangul Day (Korean language proclamation day) linked with the unit ‘Celebration’.
