Grade 3: Standard Level
Term 3-a : How we express ourselves
This term Grade 3 will focus on the concept ‘Contrast’ which is linked to the UOI ‘How we express ourselves’. First students will choose their own contrasting words. Then they will find Korean traditional books which will associate with their contrasting words. The students will study key vocabulary and simple expressions which relates to the story. After that they will make contrast books and present them during the Student Led Conference.
Term 3-b Celebration
Grade 3 will learn about celebrations which occur in May such as Korean Children’s Day, Parents’ Day, Teacher’s Day and Buddha’s Birthday.

At the beginning of the year Grade 3 will study ‘Transportation’ and ‘Location & Directions’. The students will learn how to get to a destination, how long it takes, asking and answering where to get off, asking for and giving locations and directions.
Based upon this Grade 3 will study ‘Making Appointment’. The students will learn the vocabulary related to months, days of the week, time and places. At the end of this unit the children should able to express making suggestions, giving the date, talking about places, making appointments according to a schedule.
Grade 3 will also celebrate Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) and Hangul Day (Korean language proclamation day) linked with the unit ‘Celebration’.

At the end of this unit the children should able to express making suggestions, giving the date, talking about places, making appointments according to a schedule.
