Grade 4: Standard Level
Term 3-a: Where we are in place and time
This term grade 4 will study ‘Past Civilization’ which is linked to the UOI ‘Where we are in place and time’. Korean B class will focus on ‘The Unified Silla Kingdom’. The students will study about General Kim Yushin, King Munmu, Queen Sunduck and the Three Kingdoms between the 4th century to the 6th century in Korea. Grade 4 will learn vocabulary related to the story and will write the script about how to unify the three kingdoms. Then they will perform the play in Student led Conference.
Term 3-b Celebration
Grade 4 will learn about celebrations which occur in May such as Korean Children’s Day, Parents’ Day, Teacher’s Day and Buddha’s Birthday.

Grade 4 Field Trip
Grade 4 Korean B students went on a field trip to Haeundae New Town, Traditional Market and a Korean restaurant on Wednesday 13th of November 2013. The students had an opportunity to read the menu, order and pay, try different kinds of Korean food and apply Korean table manners at the restaurant. The most popular Korean food was 수제비 (Sujebi), Wheat flakes noodles or Korean-style pasta soup. We also read lots of restaurant signs and bought some Korean street food using our reading skills and key phrases for how to buy and pay. It was a fun afternoon!

This term Grade 4 will study the unit ‘Restaurant (Level 2)’. The students will learn vocabulary related to food, drinks, taste, tableware, numbers and counting units. They also will learn how to order at a restaurant, asking for more, making a suggestion, talking about their favourite food, reading a menu, how to pay, Korean table manners and settings. At the end of the unit Grade 4 will have a chance to visit a local restaurant to practice their learning.
During the term Grade 4 will celebrate Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving) and Hangul Day (Korean language proclamation day) linked with the unit ‘Celebration’.
